LAS VEGAS, Ind., May 8, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CILR) (“CIHR” or the “LASVIAtics”) today announced it has reached an agreement with Eli Lilly Canada Ltd. (“Lilly” or “ Lilly”) to provide a license for CIHR’s Cialis Tablet (Tadalafil) and Cialis 5mg (Tadalafil) Tablets, both of which are used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. CIHR will provide a sole right of ownership of Lilly’s Cialis Tablet and Cialis 5mg Tablets in Canada, and the other rights for Cialis. Lilly will receive an upfront payment of $250,000, and CIHR will receive a 90-day supply of the Cialis Tablet and Cialis 5mg Tablets, the latter of which are eligible for a 6-month supply. Lilly will also provide a full return policy to CIHR and provide Cialis for the Canadian market, which is covered by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s (CIHR).
The agreement was signed by Lilly Canada Ltd. (“Lilly”) and Eli Lilly Canada Inc. (“Eli Lilly”). This agreement was reached in the United States by a representative of Eli Lilly Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Eli Lilly of Indianapolis, Indiana.
The CILR will be headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and operates its own pharmaceutical business. Eli Lilly’s Cialis Tablet is currently available for sale through various pharmacies in the US and Canada, including Lilly Canada. Eli Lilly Canada Inc. (“Lilly”) is the exclusive licensee of this agreement.
According to the terms of the CILR agreement, CIHR will grant CIHR a sole right of ownership of all Cialis, Tadalafil and Cialis 5mg tablets, including the right to sell the Cialis Tablet and Cialis 5mg tablets. This agreement is also a result of the U. S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana (“Superior Court”) having entered an order for an individualized order for the sale of the Cialis Tablet and the Cialis 5mg tablets and will also grant CIHR a right of first refusal to purchase the Cialis 5mg tablets from Lilly Canada Ltd. and the other rights of ownership of the other rights, including the right to sell Cialis and Cialis 5mg tablets from Canada. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
As part of the agreement, Lilly will provide an upfront payment of $250,000 to CIHR. The purchase price of Cialis and Cialis 5mg will be $2,200,000 and will be subject to a 12-month supply and a 6-month supply, respectively.
